The Laboratory of Cardiovascular Intervention creates new image-guided catheter-based non-surgical treatments of structural cardiovascular disease and to introduce them into medical practice. The Laboratory also conducts a limited number of diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures on patients and research subjects at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
There are strong interactions with a wide range of physicians and scientists, and the position offers exceptional opportunities for technology development and patient care within and outside of the NIH.
The existing faculty in the NHLBI DIR is an outstanding group of internationally recognized biomedical researchers covering a wide range of basic and clinical research topics (please see https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/research/intramural) complemented by the other research institutes within the DIR (please see http://www.nih.gov/science/#campus).
